
Lon Pishny Reappointed to KPERS Board by Senate President Steve Morris
TOPEKA – (June 1, 2009) - Garden City financial and investments advisor and businessman Lon Pishny has been
reappointed by Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton, to serve another term as Morris’
appointment the Board of Trustees for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System. Pishny
previously served on the board from 1999 to 2003, having been appointed by then-Speaker of the
House Robin Jennison.

Holland Withdraws Name from Consideration for Reappointment to Health Policy Authority
TOPEKA – (April 3, 2009) - Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton today received a request from E.J. "Ned" Holland, Jr. to withdraw his nomination for reappointment to the board of directors for the Kansas Health Policy Authority. Holland cited personal and professional considerations in making the request, expressing gratitude for having had the opportunity to serve and regret that, going forward, he would not be able to give the position the time and focus it required.

Legislature Forms Kans. Legislative Health Caucus to Promote Health Policy Knowledge and Input
TOPEKA – (March 13, 2009) - The bi-partisan leadership of the Kansas Legislature has formed The Kansas
Legislative Health Caucus to engage, educate and support legislators interested in health policy.
The Health Caucus will receive financial and technical support from the Kansas Health Institute.
The Health Caucus is to meet with the board of the Kansas Health Policy Authority at the Capitol
Plaza Hotel over a noon luncheon on Tuesday, March 17.

Hugoton Eagle Choir Performs at the Capitol in Topeka,
Participates in Kansas Citizens for the Arts Day at the Capitol
TOPEKA – (March 5, 2009) - The Hugoton Eagle Choir, comprised of 5th and 6th graders from Hugoton Elementary
School, performed at the state capitol in Topeka on Wed., March 4. Invited by Kansas Citizens
for the Arts, the talented young singers gave a concert in the capitol rotunda at noon before an
appreciative audience comprised of legislators, legislative staff, lobbyists – and a lot of proud
parents. The choir sang several songs in a program that was patriotic and that expressed their joy
in singing.
