March 8 & 9, 2010 - A delegation of state and national leaders met in Washington, D.C. on March 8 and 9, 2010, to continue efforts to bring the planned National Bio and Agro Defense Facility (NBAF) to Kansas, along with the jobs it will provide in both its construction phase and its operational phase.

On Wed., March 3, 2010, a delegation of three members of the Turkish Parliament came to the Senate as part of an event sponsored by the Turquoise Council -- an association to promote friendship and cultural sharing between Americans and Eurasians, and the Raindrop Turkish House, which is located in Kansas City.
At the evening reception, Senator Morris was honored to receive the Turquoise Council's 2010 Government Service Award. After leaving Kansas, the delegates visited the Oklahoma House and Senate where they were also recognized. Below are photos from the event.

March 2, 2010 - Students from Hugoton Middle School served as pages for the day in the Kansas Senate. Adam
Scott, Logan Romero, Kyra Skinner and Serena Turpin made the trip accompanied by Kyra’s
parents, Tony and Jackie Bruce; and Adam’s mother, Susie Scott. Logan is the son of Tommy
Romero and Serena is the daughter of Doug and Rosa Turpin. |

In late January, the Senate welcomed a group representing Kansas Mentoring. Kansas State University Football Coach Bill Snyder is actively involved with this effort to pair students with adult mentors. The program has met with impressive success, and a resolution offered on the floor of the Senate encouraged them to continue the good work!
